Technology from Yesterday’s Tomorows

Manuals for Sci-Fi Technology. This is really a follow-up post on Julian Bleeker’s talk @ Kicker Studio. [Link] From our discussion around the studio about the topic of “design fiction,’ it’s clear the fictional component of the concept expresses both the made-up/imaginary quality of fictional story-telling as well as a borrowing from the worlds created BY fictions, specifically science fictions.

For Julian & Nicolas, from what I gathered, the world of Star Treck, or the neo-techno-noir of Blade Runner are more than thoughtful production design; the impact of these cinematic-world-futures re-shape our thinking about future technologies. Therefore, more than mere techno-fantasy, sci-fi fiction & movie are a constant source of inspiration for the duo @Near Future Laboratory.
